Errol's Caribbean Bakery & Restaurant Review on Talk On The Town
Today, I'm spotlighting, Errols Caribbean Bakery and restaurant. Errol's is located in Brooklyn, NY, at 661 Flatbush Avenue, right on the corner of Flatbush Avenue and Hawthorne Street.
This culinary establishment specializes in Jamaican and Caribbean cuisine.
Now what I know that sets this place apart from the many, many other Caribbean restaurants is not just the food, which I'm getting to in a minute, but is the down home feel and courtesy of the staff that works here.
Most Caribbean Brooklynites know that in other places, you get an unwanted side of teeth sucking and attitude.
You won't get that here at Errol's. Once you step foot inside, YUH FEEL LIKE YUH DEH AH YAHD, which means, you feel like you get a piece of Jamaican hospitality. You WILL receive a complimentary smile, with a side order of patois.
Now for the food. I wouldn't even consider mentioning this place, if they didn't have not just a great variety of food on their menu, but also a great tasting variety of food.
Of course to make them officially Jamaican, is they MUST have Ackee and Saltfish on their breakfast menu, which is not only the official Jamaican dish, but MY official favorite. They also have different types of porridges, callaloo and many other great things to choose from for breakfast.
They have a hefty menu for lunch and dinner available such as curry goat, stew chicken, oxtail, escovesh fish, steam fish, curry chicken, jerk chicken and much much more.
I did also mention that Errol's is a bakery as well, a pretty good one at that. From their ovens, comes the like of bread pudding, whole wheat bread pudding as well, fruit cake, potato pudding, casava pudding, rock cake, sweet buns, current rolls, freshly baked breads, a wide variety of patties and the list goes on and on.
They also have $5 lunch specials everyday.
Since I'm a juice man myself, I love the fact that they specialize in home made juices. Their range is from carrot juice, carrot peanut punch, sea moss, sorrel, mauby, brown sugar lemonade and ginger beer.
Now even though I've said alot about Errol's Bakery and Restaurant, I think you need to come and check them out yourself. You'll be happy you did.
As for me, I'm heading there later to enjoy my favorite callaloo pattie and home made drink.
